What the work actually is
Residential HVAC on the Gulf Coast means attics in August. It means crawl spaces, tight closets, and diagnosing a system while a family is waiting in a hot house and wants to know what is happening. That last part is a real part of the job, not an afterthought.
Because we are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, some of this work happens at night, on weekends and on holidays. Someone has to answer the phone at three in the morning and someone has to drive out. If a schedule that includes those hours does not work for your life right now, it is better to know that going in.
What we look for in the field
Diagnostic honesty first. We would rather have a technician who says they need to check something than one who guesses confidently and replaces the wrong part. The second thing is how you talk to homeowners. Explaining a failure in plain language, without condescension and without inflating it, is a skill and not everyone has it.
Technical ability matters, obviously. So does showing up when you said you would. If you are early in your license path rather than fully credentialed, say where you are in the process when you reach out rather than leaving it vague.
What we look for in the office
The customer service side is led by Perla, who came from nearly two decades in customer service across oil and gas and a chemical plant before joining Air Star. The standard she sets is straightforward: answer quickly, listen properly, get the details right, and never leave someone guessing about what happens next.
This role handles people who are frustrated, hot and occasionally out of patience. Staying calm and accurate under that is the whole job.
How to reach us
We hire when we find the right person rather than on a fixed schedule, so the useful move is to ask what is open rather than assume. Call (713) 929-9595 and ask for the office, or come by 6607 Flintlock Rd, Houston, TX 77040. Tell us what you have done, where you are with licensing, and what kind of schedule works for you.
